An Unoriginal Love Letter for London Week Two

My dearest London,

I know we’ve only just met, but I’m not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasures of saying true things. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you. I lie awake dreaming of your secrets, that hidden cobblestoned road, that one street corner invisible to the raindrops, the ancient mysteries of your grandest landmarks.

This city never sleeps and that makes two. We lie beneath the stars at night, and you keep my secrets hope to die.

You see me stumble and soar,
What more could I ask for,
From a city that has taken my wings
And unfolded them, who knew
They could stretch so far?

You have me at a loss for words and that’s no easy feat. Before I go, let me just say I don’t ever want to let you down. I don’t ever want to leave this town. You carry my heart, you carry it in your heart.

Forever yours, faithfully…
Dany

Alright real talk. I’m not sure how it’s possible that I’ve only been here for two weeks. Everything seems to be moving much quicker than I would like. After this week, we’ll already be halfway done with our classes. Which I don’t mind because as interesting as I find them, I’m dying to begin my internship. Starting February 25, I’ll be working as a film publicity intern for Premier PR, one of the largest creative communication agencies in the entertainment industry. I literally can’t even put into words how excited I am to start working. There’s quite a few premieres and screenings and, best of all, FILM FESTIVALS INCLUDING THE LONDON SUNDANCE, coming up that I’ll be able to help out with! I’ll probably stop by the office this week at some point and see if there’s anything I can start doing now even though I’m not technically supposed to start until classes are over.

Newayz, the highlight of this past week was, without a doubt, going on the Harry Potter Studio Tour. It was such a struggle to get to the studio. Woke up early, took two lines on the Tube, couldn’t get our tickets, missed our train, waited an hour for the RA to sort things out, got on another train, and waited in the cold for the bus that would finally finally finally take us to the studio. It wasn’t a fun journey, but as soon as that bus pulled up, decorated with scenes from the movies, I forgot everything except how excited I was that this was actually happening. I honestly don’t know how to describe the tour if not through the 266 photos I took. Needless to say, every other caption is just “crying about it”. Like I should probably just rename the album to “crying about it”.

If you’re friends with me on Facebook, feel free to look through them! I’ll also upload a few on my flickr feed which is public and while it won’t have every photo, it’ll have a few gems. All links are on the left!

Looking back, this was a pretty good week. It’s not routine. I wake up only knowing I’ll be going to sleep at the end of the day but with not a clue as to what will happen in between. Since I only have one class every day from 9am-1pm, it really opens up the day to do whatever you want. This past week, I’ve basically been using it to take a nap. And I know, I know, that is the last thing I should be doing here but honestly, going out every night and coming home late and waking up early and then sitting in class for four hours, by the end of that cycle, you need a nap. But it tends to work out fine because then I’m rested enough to go out at night. I’ve gone to a few really cool places this week and some not so cool places but that’s how you learn and when you’re with a good group of people, it doesn’t really matter either way. My kitchen is shared with 14 people, and we’re all becoming pretty close which is great. Maybe at the end of each month, I’ll make a list of my favorite bars/pubs/clubs that I went to… you know, for reference.

I’m really looking forward to this week. Guest speakers, field trips, visit to Premier, and more than anything, PARIS with my roommates and friends over the weekend! We leave Thursday night and come back Sunday. So until next week, au revoir!
